Charlotte: Holiday Festival Fun
It may just be early November, but Christmas is in full swing, both the shopping and the festivals around town.
Traditions Old and New
As a tradition, my family makes sure we see some Christmas lights and do some Christmas festival shopping every year before the holiday, whether we get new ideas for gifts or just fun things to do for the holiday. Many times, we start traditions of our own and even some that we might have borrowed from someone else’s idea.
Parades And Lights
As the holiday rolls around, we like to take in a Christmas parade, plenty of scenes of lights, and a craft show or two to give us some ideas of not just what we might purchase but what we might make for our loved ones this year.
Fun Events In Charlotte
We searched the Charlotte area to find out some fun things you can do this Christmas, whether it’s something you’ve done every Christmas or maybe something new that you’re going to try for the very first time this year. Take a look at a few events that we found for fun this holiday season.
Speedway Christmas
Friday, November 22, 2024 – Sunday, January 5, 2025, 6:00 PM 10:00 PM
The 15th season of the Southeast’s largest drive-thru holiday light show features more than 5 million lights on a four-mile course that includes the legendary oval, pit road, and infield road course. The show is open 6-10 p.m., rain or shine, and features synchronized lights-to-music plus drive-in movies on the gigantic Speedway TV every Thursday through Sunday night until Christmas.
Christmas Town USA
Each December, just west of Charlotte, the quaint town of McAdenville becomes a Christmas wonderland. Almost overnight, the vibrant little town transforms into Christmas Town U.S.A. attracting visitors from across the country.
Christmas Town USA, near Charlotte, has many separate events like a Christmas light display starting on December 2, a tree lighting ceremony also on December 2, and a Yule Tide parade on December 12. What a great place to celebrate the holidays.
