Eminem Hits the Stage 5 Days Following the Death of His Mother, Debbie Nelson
Eminem is back on stage after having to deal with the loss of his mom, Debbie Nelson. Just five days following the death of his mother, Eminem hit the stage to perform for fans once again.
The 52-year-old rapper performed at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 7 in his first public appearance since his mother’s death. Nelson died due to complications from lung cancer on December 2.
Eminem Takes the Stage Following the Passing of His Mother
During the performance, he skipped over a portion of his 2002 hit, Without Me, that references his mom. He typically skips over this part, but this would be the first time he performed the song since her passing. The lyric states, “I just settled all my lawsuits, F— you Debbie.”
The lyrics are in reference to the $10 million defamation lawsuit Nelson filed against Eminem back in 1999 over other lyrics in his debut album. They settled the suit two years later for $25,000. Since then, Eminem has apologized to his mother for rapping about their troubled mother/son relationship.
Over the years, they have somewhat been able to reconcile their relationship. In 2022, she made a video congratulating him on his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Following the passing of his mother, he now has lost both parents as his estranged father passed back in 2019.
