Oprah announced “The Color Purple” would hit the big screen with an all-star cast and she warned, “This ain’t your mama’s ‘Color Purple'”.
Fantasia has been cast as “Celie”. The singer portrayed the character for the Broadway production for which she won a Theater World Award in 2017 for Outstanding Broadway Debut Performance. Taraji P. Henson, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Corey Hawkins, and Colman Domingo also star in the movie adaptation. Oprah has passed the baton to Danielle Brooks for the role of “Sophia.” “The Color Purple” will begin filming in Georgia next month. Check out the stars reactions to receiving the good news!
