DIY Bar Is A Spot Every Crafter Should Visit
Going to a bar just to drink is SO last year. Ditch your old school partying ways and get with the latest trend: crafting and boozing.
There has been a sudden increase of drinking establishments allowing their customers to create crafts. One bar in Portland, Oregon called DIY Bar permits their party-goers to make such items like Leather Luggage Tags, Drop Catch Bottle Opener, Cat Scratcher, Rustic Nail & String Art, Leather Wallet, Leather Passport Holder, Leather Koozie, 6 Pack Carrier, Hex Nut Bracelet, Leather Mason Jar Mug, Beaded Wrap Bracelet, and a Minimalist Leather Clutch.
Each item on the list comes with a different price point as well as duration. Customers can expect to pay $39 per project and create for 1-3 hours. Instead of a traditional happy hour where you would have reduced food and beverages, guests get $10 off select projects.
When a guest signs up for a project, they will be provided with tools, materials, and instructions. Each DIY craft is a “self-guided tour” and can be created by following the directions on an instructional sheet. If you’re having problems sewing or figuring out a step, there are craft-tenders, which walk around the bar and can assist you.
According to their website, the venue can seat up to 49 people. All parties like bachelorette or birthday events are all welcome at the location.

Alcohol available at the location includes wine, beer, cider as well as non-alcoholic beverages. All drinks on their list are an added cost. Since this new idea is popular, reservations are recommended.

Currently, there is no word on if this trend is going to spreading throughout the United States. Currently, there are some DIY bars popping up in metropolitan areas. With the degree of positive reviews and internet attention, we wouldn’t be shocked if this was the new drink and paint phenomenon in 2018.
