‘Black Panther: The Album’ Lands No. 1 On Billboard 200
Talk about EPIC – the Kendrick Lamar curated soundtrack for Black Panther: The Album has debuted and scored No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Not to mention, the soundtrack came out prior to the movie release, so we know that when Feb. 15 rolled around (the week ending for Billboard), the 154,000 album units moved was all due to the hype of Top Dog Entertainment.
“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director,” Kendrick Lamar was quoted saying by XXL. “The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.”
After seeing the film and knowing how the music plays a pivotal role but isn’t nearly as abrasive as that of the Suicide Squad soundtrack, it’s safe to say that many more album units are going to be moved before the reign of King T’Challa & K.Dot leaves theatres.
