South Los Angeles City Councilman To Name Intersection After Nipsey Hussle
Nipsey Hussle is being honored in a major way.
South Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson announced the news via his Instagram account yesterday (Apr. 9).
He wrote, “Proud to honor #nipseyhussle by dedicating #crenshaw and #slauson as “Nipsey Hussle Square.”
The same intersection where Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot will be named after him. Crenshaw Blvd. and West Slauson Ave. will be renamed as Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom Square.
During the press conference that LAPD had last week regarding the investigation of Nipsey Hussle’s death, Harris-Dawson spoke highly of Nipsey Hussle.
“Nipsey Hussle is a shining example of the best that we can be,” Harris-Dawson said. “At some point in his life, he made the decision that he was going to be a part of the solution.”
On Mar. 31, when Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot six times, Harris-Dawson took to Instagram to share a few photos of himself with the slain Los Angeles rapper.
The first photo that he shared was of him and Nipsey Hussle shaking hands. He wrote, “This is a picture taken at a March Against Gun Violence 5 years ago at Crenshaw High School. From that day until this afternoon @nipseyhussle has been a strong partner, a poignantly brilliant musician, and a tireless advocate for South LA. Rest in Power @nipseyhussle#nipseyhussle”
He shared another photo of the two in conversation and wrote, “From the beginning, Nipsey Hussle has been a critical part of #DestinationCrenshaw, even inspiring the name! Rest in Power Nip!”
The last photo that Harris-Dawson shared was of him and Nipsey Hussle in the parking lot of Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Store. He wrote, “You will truly be missed, and your legacy will live on! Rest in peace! @nipseyhussle #nipseyhussle”
Nipsey Hussle’s funeral service will take place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center on Thursday (Apr. 11) from 10 am to 12 pm local time.
