I wondered if somebody was familiar with the wise quotes of John Lewis. It’s just amazing how fast time flies, but the progress is slow pertaining to equal rights for all. The legendary civil rights leader John Lewis’s voice is unmistakable and stuck with me as the voice of reason and calm. Who could of put up with what he put up with? Lots of folks took beatings, jail time, and sometimes death just so they can live life without fear. I was so sad to hear of John Lewis’s death at the age of 80 on July 17, but his legacy will live on forever nestled with clever quotes this genius would say over the years. For instance, the one about getting into “good trouble” to oppose systemic racism is still very much alive and kicking and screaming in 2020.

I have always been heartbroken about the way Lewis was beaten and arrested as a Freedom Rider in the early 1960s as he and others galvanized seas of people alongside Martin Luther King Jr. in 1963 during the March on Washington.
After that time period, Lewis spent nearly four decades championing the causes of marginalized communities as a member of the US House of Representatives for Georgia!!!! WOW!
