Dads Love During COVID-19
As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, something is blossoming in the world of father/child relationships. Research conducted by The Harvard Graduate School of Education shows 68% of fathers say they feel closer to their children and report having more meaningful conversations with them and discovering shared interests. Dads are home more, either working from home, layoffs or furloughs and are really getting to know their children as people. They are sharing more of their lives and perspectives with their kids, not to mention spending more time doing things their kids love.
Even with the number of women joining the workforce climbing steadily over the decades, women have still remained primary caregivers of their children. Now that the pandemic has hit and dads are home, he’s cultivating a new sense of closeness with his little seeds. Dads are saying the importance of family is being reinforced and moms and kids are pleased with the new interest dad is taking in them. They key to making this trend last long after the pandemic has withered and phased out is establishing a routine with the kids and setting aside time for family. Kids are only kids for a short while, dads. It’s important to spend quality time with them and enjoy the family you work so hard to provide for.
