Mom Delivers Baby So Big “Two People Had to Lift Him Out”
There are big babies and then there’s this fella who was recently born to a couple in the U.K. who was shocked at his size. Amy Smit and her husband Zac are now the proud parents to their son Zagrys, who goes by Zeik, and he was so large when he was born on March 25th, he wouldn’t even fit on the hospital scale to be weighed.
When a suitable scale was found, Zeik weighed in at an impressive 12-pounds, nine ounces and he was nearly two feet tall at birth. Amy says they knew he was going to be tall because both she and Zac are around six feet tall, plus his ultrasounds showed he was long. But she wasn’t quite prepared for his size, having bought newborn clothes that he’s already too large for. Zeik was already wearing size six to nine months baby clothes!
“He was so big that it took two people to lift him out,” the new mom explains of the delivery. “There were all these really small ladies around me and I heard one of them saying, ‘I need some help, he’s enormous.’” Amy says she actually lost her appetite during her pregnancy and now she seems grateful for that. “I just keep thinking, imagine how much bigger he could have been if I had eaten lots!”
