The Delta Variant Strain
Get ready folks, it seems like the Delta variant might make it’s way to your city. Identified in India, the Delta variant is also known as B.1.617.2. This strain seems to be more contagious and resistant to vaccines than the dominant Alpha (U.K.) strain circulating in the U.S., but of course it carries a greater risk of hospitalization. Geeeez Louise, right when we begin to take off our mask and relax a little, here comes the delta variant that’s more contagious than the alpha strain. If you go down the rabbit hold and read online, you might come up on the study done by the Public Health England suggesting that delta is 60% more transmissible than alpha.
What are the symptoms of the delta variant? You’ll notice a sore throat, runny nose, fever and headaches. because its been documented among patients that were diagnosed. This Covid-19 strain known as delta is in at least 60 countries including the United States. If you’ve been leery of sharing a straw of sharing utensils, listen up! There seems to be no evidence that people can get COVID-19 from eating food or from someone’s plate, but sharing utensils and congregating around food service areas may present a bit of a risks.
