A movie about Karen’s! Don’t we have enough news footage already? So, I was surfing the internet this weekend looking for topics to write about this week and came across a movie titled Karen…hummmm. I thought, surely, it’s not what I think it is and sure enough, it is! What is a Karen, you ask? Karen is a new slang word used to refer to women usually middle aged who is obnoxious, angry, and entitled. Karen uses her privilege to get her way or to police other people’s behaviors.
KAREN follows Karen Drexler, a racist woman who makes it her personal mission to displace the new Black family that has just moved in her neighborhood, not only in her neighborhood but who has moved right next door to her. The trailer shows her being a true Karen, watching stalking and making trouble for her new black neighbors. Karen the movie stars Cory Hardrict, Jasmine Burke, and Taryn Manning. This movie is being released in limited theaters on September 3rd. Check your local listings to see if it’s playing near you. Someone will have to tell me about how good or bad it is because the trailer was enough for me!
