Bad news drivers! Gas prices in Charlotte rose almost 7 cents over the past week. The average price of a gallon of regular gas in Charlotte is $3.93 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’ . That’s 18 cents higher than the previous 10-year high of $3.75 a gallon on May 2, 2012. Remember that??
So when will gas prices go down in the Queen City? There’s many factors. The cost of diesel is up to a dollar higher then regular gas. The Ukraine/Russia conflict has added to the rise too. Then of course we have the prices jumping because of summer travel. So don’t expect prices to drop too much over the next few weeks!
Gas prices in Charlotte are 8.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand at $1.30 per gallon higher than a year ago, GasBuddy analysts said. The best price in the city is $3.72 per gallon as of May 1 while the most expensive is $4.19 a gallon. Our SC friends pay way less as we know. The average in South Carolina is $3.89. The cheapest gas in SC is $3.57 at a station in Myrtle Beach.
There is no need to panic buy at this point, but maybe just swing by the pump while you’re out and about this weekend. Among the largest producers in the world, Russia produces 17 percent of the world’s natural gas and 12 percent of its oil. In addition, much of Russia’s natural gas exports to Europe flow through pipelines in Ukraine. So don’t expect those prices to last long.
