South Carolina Lottery Winner Pays Off Home With Winnings
This South Carolina man hit the jackpot! The Rock Hill Herald reports that a South Carolina man won $300,000 playing in the South Carolina Education Lottery.
“We pinched ourselves,” says the man and wife after winning big. The Herald reports that once the news settled in, the husband cashed in his prize and paid off his house. Things all started when he ran into a Refuel store in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The Herald says the man bought a ticket for the Retro Riches game at the store.
The winning ticket beat 1-in-1 million odds to win the game’s biggest prize. After taxes, he was able to pocket $207,000 says lottery spokesperson Holli Armstrong to McClatchy News in an email. After paying off their home, they kept the rest of their earnings a secret. The Herald reports the man said, “The bank knows.”
This would not be the first time a winner keeps their earnings a secret. Trust me, I would probably do the same thing. No one needs to know anything about it.
