Here’s Why You’re Smelling Gas All Over Charlotte

As we started wrapping up our show, we started noticing a gas smell in the studio as well as all over the office. When we finish our show, most of our other colleagues are getting to work. Turns out…you smell natural gas inside the office and even more outside!
When you smell gas, the first thing you think to do is call 911 and report it. Well, not in this case.
We are experiencing a high 911 call volume related to a natural gas order in the city. The @NWSGSP has confirmed a weather inversion is causing the odor, and we are working with @PiedmontNG and continuing to investigate the source of the odor. pic.twitter.com/JWYbO8D5QT
