Black Perals Society is making us aware of the good things and also disparities in our world. One issue that everyone should know about is the racial disparities in maternal and infant health. Black Pearls Society is a lovely group of ladies who are having the Black Maternal & Infant Health Conference on April 14th from 12 pm to 8:30 pm and April 15th from 9 am to 4 pm. It shouldn’t be this many racial disparities for women of color, but there are many struggles with delivering their babies safely in the United States. Get involved by attending the Conference located at the Conference Center located at GTCC, 7908 Leabourne Rd., Colfax, NC. April 14th and 15th. Their two-day program will elevate community-led entities focused on maternal health and reproductive justice regarding Black maternal and infant health. The safe space is perfect for hearing the voices of local Black women and birthing people. Yes, community stakeholders need to understand the Maternal and infant mortality crisis.
The conference will include an art installation and ritual ceremonies. This conference will also support activists, providers, birthing assistants and doulas, systems leaders, and policymakers. We’re happy that his group reaches across communities for more State collaborations. This year the Keynote Speakers include Shawnee Benton Gibson, Omari Maynard, and Bruce McIntyre (Aftershock).
