South Carolina Is Home To The Nation’s Best Vegetarian Restaurant
South Carolina, it is a good time to be a vegetarian. A growing number of Americans are vegetarian or at least enjoy eating this way some of the time. This can be for health reasons, religious reasons, moral reasons, or something else. Many restaurants are accommodating to this featuring plant-based options. And if you are a vegetarian it’s nice to be able to go places with several options you can choose from. Good news for those of you in South Carolina, the Palmetto state is home to the nation’s best vegetarian restaurant according to TripAdvisor.
The Studio
This is according to the recently announced Trip Advisor Travelers’ Choice Award Best of The Best Restaurant. One of the categories recognized was the best vegetarian restaurant. And in that category the number one spot in in Hilton Head. It’s called The Studio. The Studio is actually a restaurant and art gallery. The menu isn’t all vegetarian. But they are known for their vegan options as well as GrassFed Beef and local fresh seafood. Vegan options include “steak” and mushroom crepes with Steak Seitan, Mushrooms, Spinach, Peppers, Carrot-Ginger Purée & Wasabi Aioli. There is also the Lazy Hippie Loaf which is a Vegetable and impossible Loaf with Salsa Huevona, Jalapeño Mac & ‘Cheese’ .
You can view the full menu here! I’m someone who does eat meat and is not a fan of fake meat or cheese options. I love that this restaurant offers both. On numerous occasions, I’ve been drug to a vegan place in Charlotte that just doesn’t have anything I enjoy on the menu. So I enjoy when places keep both demographics happy.

These South Carolina Restaurants Were Nationally Recognized As Hidden Gems
There are restaurants that deservedly receive a lot of attention and publicity. And typically for great reason. But now it’s time to delve into some different restaurants. Not necessarily the newest or the trendiest, but definitely some of the best. And these three restaurants in South Carolina are wonderful hidden gems. They were named amongst the top 25 hidden gem restaurants on TripAdvisor’s recently released Best of the Best list. This list is nationwide so to have any restaurant included is impressive, but to have 3 of the 25 is certainly something to be proud of.
The most surprising part of this? The three restaurants recognized by TripAdvisor are in three different cities. Typically we see Charleston receiving this recognition time and time again. And while it’s deserved (and one of these places is in Charleston), it’s also nice to see other South Carolina cities getting some love! All three restaurants are on the coast though. Not only was South Carolina recognized North Carolina also had two restaurants named as the best of the best hidden gems. If you aren’t good at math- that 20% of the best restaurants are in one of the two Carolinas.
Other states that got some love include New York, Tennessee, and Florida. Each of those states had multiple restaurants make the list as well.
