Female rappers have always been a major part of the rap culture but right now they have the rap game in a chokehold. Every time you turn on the radio it is another one of your favorite songs by a female rapper. Many people have started to wonder where this came from. How long will it last? I do not know but I know I am enjoying what I am hearing and what I am seeing. Let's check out some of our favorite female rappers right now.
Sexyy Red is up first. Straight up out of St. Louis a lot of people thought she was going to be a one hit wonder when she dropped her street hit and club anthem "Pound Town." She shook the world with this one. She came right back with the hit "SkeeYee." This one had kids screaming while running through school hallways and became an instant club banger. Sexxy then teamed with everybody's favorite rapper Drake for the hit "Rich Baby Daddy." People were like ok she has to be done now. Sexxy was like nope I am not and gave us her current radio banger "Get It Sexxy." It is obvious she is here to stay. Like the song says get it sexxy and yes that a%% is super fat. You can watch the video and judge for yourself.
Next up on the female rap list is none other than the Memphis Queen Glorilla. You talk about taking the rap game by storm. This is exactly what Glorilla did when she came out of the box with her first single "FNF." Glorilla better known as "Big Glo" had every female in the world screaming this at the top of their lungs. This song was super big and was hard to follow up but Glorilla did not have a problem. She ran it back by enlisting the known hitmaker Cardi B another female rapper. They dropped the street, club, and radio banger "Tomorrow 2." Glorilla was actually nominated for a Grammy behind this song. Fans were waiting for what was going to come next from Glorilla when she gave them what they were asking for with her new hit "Yea Glo." Big Glo no doubt ate on this one. Check out the video.
Another female currently running the rap game is Latto. We all met Latto on the TV show "The Rap Game." Jermaine Dupri introduced us to the then teenage who went by the name Mulatto. Watching the TV show you could tell that she was a star. She was ready to jump on the scene and take it over. Speculation is that Latto was way too mature for the rap game and that her lyrics would not go well with her age at the time. After the show was over Latto jumped in the rap game with a hit after. Her current hit "Sunday Service" is going crazy at radio stations everywhere. Check out the video.
The next two on the females who are running the rap game list are known hit makers. They both have been on the scene for a minute and have built a crazy fan base. I am talking about Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Do we really have to run down their accolades? Both have many hits and many major award wins and nominations. Whether dropping songs with each other, with other artists, or solo we already know if they do it that it is going to be a banger. Cardi just dropped her new instant hit " Enough Miami" Meanwhile Megan just gave us the booty challenge of the summer with Glorilla's "Wanna Be." Peep out both videos.
Big salute to female rappers everywhere. Keep y'all foot on their necks!
TikTok is a place where you can find out your favorite artist's personality. Artists and their teams have been able to leverage social media to their advantage. It gives fans an inside look at who they are as a person outside of their music.
Latto is a perfect example of how she uses social media to her advantage and connects with fans. She often posts silly videos of her and her sister Brooklyn trying new food, participating in TikTok challenges, and previewing new music.
The Atlanta native has had an exciting year thus far as she was nominated for two Grammys. Latto was nominated for Best New Artist and her "Big Energy (Live)" was nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards. On top of that, she just won her second BET Award on Sunday for Best Female Hip Hop Artist.
She later hit the stage to perform her latest single "Put It On Da Floor."

Latto and Cardi B "Put It On Da Floor Again," for the remix of her viral hit. The firey remix accompanies their music video, where Latto and Cardi B run around a grocery store, jewelry store and party reciting the lyrics. Cardi B's husband Offset makes a cameo as does LSU star Angel Reese.
Besides music, Latto has used social media to clear up any beef she's had with fellow rappers. Back in March, a fan accused Latto of mimicking Ice Spice's cover to her debut EP Like...?
"Every time y’all accuse me of copying folks ima clear it up. Nun mo nun less."
"I don’t like how y’all take my tweets & make them fit ur weak a-- narratives," she added in a separate tweet.
Take a look at why you should follow Latto and more rappers on TikTok:
1. Latto
Latto is very active on social media and definitely has one of the funniest accounts in hip-hop. In this TikTok, Latto used a filter to see what food reigned supreme for the Atlanta native. She also shows her personality by doing dance challenges, collaborating with her sister Brookyln, and more on her account.
2. Lil Nas X
If Lil Nas X is not entertaining you with his music he for sure will be making you laugh on TikTok. In the TikTok above, the "Industry Baby" emcee can be seen using a filter to choose the best rapper to form a bracket. When he's not using the filters on the app, Lil Nas X like many other artists use it as a marketing tool to preview new music, and show who he is outside of the studio.
3. Cardi B
Cardi B is known for fire bars as an artist but the real appeal to her is that she reveals she is so relatable to her fans. In the TikTok above, Cardi gives fans a glimpse of her every day as "Belcalis" (her real name) and not as Cardi B the artist. Her TikTok account has previews of her music, reposts of fans vibing and dancing to her music, and social media challenges she participates in.
4. Coi Leray
Coi Leray loves to give her fans behind-the-scenes access to her music and TikTok is her medium. The New Jersey native often previews clips of music she is about to release to get a vibe check from her fans. When she's not showing unreleased music or hopping on a TikTok challenge, she is seen hanging out with her team and friends.
5. Megan Thee Stallion
Megan Thee Stallion is known for her hilarious voiceovers on social media. In the TikTok above, the "Savage" rapper was recapping her performances overseas last year. Like many other artists, Megan uses TikTok to preview new music, show some behind-the-scenes content, and show off her infectious personality.
6. Ice Spice
Ice Spice is one of the more popular artists out at the moment. This year linked with Nicki Minaj twice on two songs, "Princess Diana," and "Barbie World." Ice Spice tends to use TikTok as a first look at new music just like the time video above.
7. NLE Choppa
NLE Choppa is hilarious on TikTok. The rapper likes to vary his sound from time to time which the above video shows him sliding on a pop song. He also frequently participates in TikTok challenges.
