Diddy Wipes His Instagram Clean, Including Cassie Apology
Sean “Diddy” Combs has deleted every post from his Instagram account, including the apology video he posted after footage surfaced of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura in 2016.
In recent months, Diddy has faced numerous accusations of sexual assault, as well as a federal criminal sex-trafficking investigation that led to raids of his homes in Los Angeles and Miami.
Why did Diddy delete every post on his Instagram account?
TMZ reports that sources close to Combs say he spontaneously decided to wipe all of his posts, and it was not a premeditated decision taken by him and his management team.
They also claim that his decision to delete the apology video should not be taken as an attempt to walk back that statement, and it was only removed as part of the wider scrubbing of his social media account.
Stephen A. Smith called out the music artist for removing his video apology to Cassie, calling his actions “foolish.”
“If you had a million photos, if you had a million videos, and you decided to delete 999,999, that’s the one you should’ve kept up—if you’re sincere. … And I know, that you’ve been taking a lot of hits, and there’s been shrapnels of criticism all over the place aimed in your direction. Not that it wasn’t deserved,” said Smith in a video.
He continued, “Although one could argue, the ex that you hit had to deal with a hell of a lot more than you had to deal with in terms of the criticism.”
Smith went on to question why Diddy deleted the video of his apology, wondering why he doesn’t appear to want people to know he’s sorry for his actions.
“Delete everything else; not that,” he said. “Don’t you want people to know that you were contrite? That you were incredibly sorry? That you have profound regret for the egregious actions that you were caught on camera committing?”
Speculation
Some didn’t like the latest move from Diddy. One person on Reddit wrote, “Someone has them saved somewhere, archived, for some reason. it’s the internet.” Another person said, “My guess is he wants to erase anything he’s said that was more damning or would potentially make him look like a hypocrite.”
Several people feel like Diddy did it to erase anything that could potentially be incriminating. “Feds about come for him.” Some people questioned why he didn’t just delete his page. My guess is that he still uses his page to monetize collaboration posts on the platform or his reasoning is similar to Andre 3000. HotNewHipHop reported that Andre 3000 “claimed his IG account in order to prevent other people from impersonating him.”
