South Carolina School District Apologizes After Confusion
According to our source, Channel 9 in Charlotte, here’s what happened. The school district posted on social media Sunday night that there were some mistakes in communication about bus routes. The district said they of course thought they were accurate when originally sent out. Whitney Thomas gives this quote to wsoctv.com; “I believe they sent it out on that Friday but they also sent it out on the weekend and they kept saying there would be updates, they’d put it on the Facebook page too, but my son’s stuff was never updated with a number,” “My friend next door, her sons had an a.m. pickup, but no p.m., so it was just a whole mess.”
Dozens Of Parents Complained
Thomas is not alone. Dozens of parents complained about the confusion on the District’s social media page. Many saying the bus never showed up. One parent said she isn’t sure which bus her child will be on for the return from school.
Tropical Storm Debby To Blame For Some First Day Confusion
School officials apologized for the confusion and say leaders are working on the errors. And they are trying to figure out how the omissions happened. The district tells Channel 9 updated information was posted in the student information system parent portal on the Safety and Transportation website.
This isn’t the only point of confusion. The district needed to cancel orientation in this South Carolina school district because of Tropical Storm Debby. Parents were concerned kids would be confused about things like where their lockers or classrooms are located. School officials say they will work with the kids to make sure they know where to go and how to find things.
