Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar To Open First North Carolina Location at SouthPark Mall
A fresh mix of island-style dining and shopping is coming to Charlotte’s SouthPark Mall next spring. The Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar will take over the old McCormick & Schmick’s spot, turning it into a 9,720-square-foot hangout on the mall’s west side, opening its doors on March 21.
“Our casual dining experience sets us apart from other lifestyle brands,” said CEO Doug Wood to Charlotte Observer.
This combo concept is the brand’s first venture into North Carolina. While Tommy Bahama runs 160 stores worldwide, just 27 spots mix food with shopping.
The menu showcases fresh seafood, highlighting coconut shrimp and blackened mahi tacos. The kitchen serves up beef sliders, ahi poke bowls, and homemade key lime pie. At the bar, bartenders shake up signature drinks like grapefruit basil cocktails and blood orange margaritas.
They’re open late, until 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, staying open until 10 p.m. on weekends. Grab-and-go options are available, plus delivery services bring food straight to you.
Located at 4400 Sharon Road, the spot offers both indoor seating and a laid-back patio. Diners can check out the store’s selection of resort wear, swimsuits, and home goods between meals.
Live music will fill the space most nights. The patio adds to SouthPark’s growing lineup of outdoor spots, including the newly built West Plaza performance stage.
This huge shopping center covers 1.8 million square feet, with 175 stores. Since it opened in 1970, it’s been a go-to shopping destination just 6 miles from downtown Charlotte.
The Marlin Bar matches SouthPark’s move toward upscale shopping and dining options while creating new jobs in the area.
