Charlotte Douglas International Airport Improvements
Starting today (March 24), the new checkpoint will be available for limited travelers to use and get through security in a much smoother process. The checkpoint will be open for all and fully operational starting Wednesday, March 26.
“The opening of Checkpoint 2 is a major milestone in the Terminal Lobby Expansion project, as streamlining security checkpoints from five to three while increasing capacity will provide passengers with a faster, more efficient screening experience,” said Jack Christine, Chief Infrastructure Officer at Charlotte Douglas to WCNC.
Checkpoint A will permanently close later this week. With the construction that has took place in the last few months, Charlotte Douglas is hoping to be able to control the business of travel that the airport sees each day.
Airport officials will continue with airport improvements as we have seen the last few months. The imrpovements include two new baggage carousels for baggage claim and three more automated exit lanes in the ticketing area.
