What’s The Deadliest Cancer?
Which Cancer is the worst? I receive press releases about all types of deadly cancers. Ovarian Cancer is the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers, and supposedly the ninth most common cancer among women. The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance says that one in every 78 women will develop ovarian cancer during her lifetime, and one in 108 will die from it. Even the American Cancer Society refers to it as deadliest cancer of the female reproductive system. ACS says it will affect 1 in 75 American women during their lifetimes. Whereas breast cancer can often be detected early with mammograms, ovarian cancer patients are often very advanced at diagnosis. Surgery is the main treatment for ovarian cancer, and some early-stage ovarian patients may undergo minimally-invasive procedures to remove ovarian tumors.
Since this cancer is so serious, what are the early warning signs? Bloating is a common feeling, but a symptom. More early signs are pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating for feeling full quickly. Also a feeling an urgency to urinate. Michael Swor, MD, FPMRS has been conducting interviews about Ovarian Cancer because he’s a gynecologist and chief medical officer for Biom Pharmaceuticals.
