What Region Has The Best BBQ?
May is BBQ Month so get your ribs on! Can somebody tell somebody to please take the vinegar out of the BBQ sauce in the Carolinas? This blog will resonate with Midwesterners because we grew up on BBQ ribs, not chopped pork or dry-ass ribs. We have a BBQ place in Charlotte North Carolina that I will not mention by name, but they should get out of the BBQ business. Ouch, that insult hurts, but you hurt me, too! LOL If you Google BBQ it’ll give you regions that do BBQ the right way and North and South Carolina is on the list. Texas-style BBQ seems to be a winner because of the cuts of meat and tomato-based sauce. But you might find opposition because Memphis is nicely seasoned barbecue. Kansas City BBQ makers use herbs and spices that will blow your socks off.
Kansas City is the BBQ Capital, but some may argue that Memphis and Texas BBQ will give you a run for your money. What makes good BBQ? The cut of meat, the seasoning, and the sauce are how we judge. Texas barbecue comes from the fat in the meat after it has been cooked low and slow. Texas uses dry rubs and all the sauces are served on the side.
