Cardi B Dethroned Taylor Swift’s No. 1 With “Bodak Yellow”
I’m doing some celebrating right now, not gonna lie.
Cardi B just broke the barrier with “Bodak Yellow,” not only dethroning Taylor Swift‘s “Look What You Made Me Do,” but also making history.
Not only did Swift fall to No. 3, this happens to be the first solo female hip-hop number 1 since Lauryn Hill‘s “Doo Wop (That Thing),” according to SPIN.
Before you go off and say “NICKI MINAJ THO,” she has only peaked at No. 2 with “Anaconda,” and “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea hit No. 1, but with Charli XCX, therefore making it a non-solo performance.
I’m totally here for it. Especially if that means hip-hop is on top, thanks to a woman.
Amy Cooper is one with the force and the force is with her.
