Pusha T’s ‘Daytona’ Features Photo Of Whitney Houston’s Drug-Filled Bathroom
Reportedly, Kanye West paid $85,000 to license the photo for the cover of Pusha T‘s new album ‘Daytona.’
XXL shares that during a recent interview, Pusha shared that Ye scrapped the album art that was previously picked on Wednesday morning, prior to Friday’s (Today) release. He is quoted illustrating the following conversation:
“Hey, I don’t want to pay for that. And I wasn’t even going to ask you to pay for that. We picked what we picked. It’s here, it’s ready.” Pusha says Kanye responded, “No, this what people need to see to go with this music. I’ma pay for that.”
He also noted: “I’m not really too, too, too entrenched in the art world like that. I’m just going to let him do that thing. And he’s paying for it.”
The photo in question is an image taken in 2006, which was the same year that Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown got divorced, and the photo had been released after her death in 2012 by multiple news sources. The counter of her bathroom had drugs and other drug-related paraphernalia on the counter.
Aside from that, ‘Daytona’ is already been hailed as a “classic” hip-hop masterpiece, by not just fans, but from peers as well. Pusha took to Instagram to share a note that he got from Diddy, in which Puff called the album a “flawless hip-hop gem” as well as a “modern-day masterpiece.” Peep that below:
