Meek Mill Receives Key To The State Of Connecticut
Rapper Meek Mill seems to be having a great year, so far.
The Philadelphia artist was recently given the key to the State of Connecticut for his criminal justice reform advocacy, CT Post notes.
The “Going Bad” rapper received the key before performing at Hartford’s Xfinity Theater on Mar. 19.

March 19 was also declared “Meek Mill Day” across Connecticut, and the key was placed on a plaque that contains the proclamation declaring Mill’s “day.”
Last week, Mill was honored with “Meek Mill Weekend” by the Philadelphia City Council.

Meek Mill recently launched REFORM Alliance with Jay-Z, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, Nets co-owner Clara Wu Tsai, and Van Jones. REFORM Alliance is an organization whose goal is to change mass supervision laws around probation and parole policies.
Not only is Meek Mill working hard towards criminal justice reform, the rapper — who is no stranger to the criminal justice system — also talks about how the system affects people of color in his music.
“Tryna smoke the pain away/They lock us up for smoking/put em’ on probation like them other fiends perfect/victim to the system like a rain drop in the ocean/they closing all the schools and all the prisons getting open,” he raps on “Championships.”
“Coming from where I come from, we had to beat the streets. Beat the system. Beat racism. Beat poverty. And now we made it through all of that we at the championship,” he says after that verse.
