Lil Wayne Discusses Why Lil Baby Is His Favorite Rapper
During a recent appearance on All The Smoke, Lil Wayne told Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson why Lil Baby is his favorite rapper.
“He’s a young man,” Weezy said during the interview. “That’s how I simply title him up. It’s not the quote-unquote phrase of it. He’s the definition of both words. He’s a young man.”
It was during the season finale of Sneaker Shopping that Lil Wayne first revealed that Lil Baby was his favorite spitter. However, Weezy goes into further detail about why he loves Lil Baby, pointing to the artist’s open-mindedness.
“I was in a session with him before. He heard a beat come on out of the blue that I was working on. It was an uptempo beat. It was probably a feature for somebody. Baby was like ‘I couldn’t even begin to rap on no [expletive] like that,'” Wayne said. “After that session, I done heard two or three songs like that come out that he done did. I was like ‘See, he went right back and figured it out.'”
During the interview, Wayne also shared that he’s a fan of rappers Young Dolph and XXXTentacion.
A lot of artists are currently hosting concerts from their homes for fans during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Tunechi was asked if he was open to one himself, during the interview.
“Man, I can’t wait,” Lil Wayne said. “Ask [Mack Maine]. I been told Mack I wanted to do a live show from my [expletive] with about five-six songs no one’s ever heard. But now that we need it, I can’t even do no unheard songs. I gotta do a real show on my [expletive].”
