NC Considering Legalizing Marijuana
Is the state ready for this?
Rep. John Autry and House Members Allison Dahle, Pricey Harrison, and Zack Hawkins have introduced HB 617. Many states have already taken the steps to legalize marijuana, or already done so. This bill will legalize and regulate the sale, possession, and use of Cannabis in North Carolina.
HB 617 will makes legal the use, possession, and cultivation of up to 12 plants for persons 21 or older for the personal use of Cannabis. It also allows regulations for growers, producers/processors, retail outlets, and on-site usage establishments. It establishes a Registration Department and provides for the collection of State and Local taxes. There is a lot of revenue just waiting for NC after legalization.
