Should it be a crime to donate to the homeless
A Charlotte city councilman during a meeting this past Monday suggested that if people donate to the homeless community directly then they should be charged with a misdemeanor. While I understand people want to find alternative ways to clean up the city, punishing the ones who try to help those who are less fortunate is not the way to go about it. This could possibly be the worst idea ever made by someone who is a city leader. Your job as a fixture in the community and the city you live in is to help make the city and people around you better. Throwing around the idea of punishment to those who also want to helps just absurd. The fact that these are the people who are voted into office shows that there aren’t enough people getting out to vote the RIGHT people in.
Being that this happened in Charlotte tells me that we need people to get out and vote its that simple. If we pay attention to the people on the ballot and do our research on what they believe in and what they plan on doing then there’s no way they get into office with a ridiculous suggestion like this. To this councilman you should spend more time figuring out how much money from the city needs to be distributed to help the homeless community and how you can help bring more jobs in to the city.
