When Should You Put Up Christmas Lights?
Are you one of those people that puts up their Christmas decorations in November? Or are you someone that waits until December 1st to really embrace the holiday cheer? The great debate about when you should put up your Christmas lights has always been a thing. As for me and mine, our lights and decor are going up in November 100%. But, there are some people who feel you have to at least wait until Thanksgiving is over. Then, there are others who go completely dedicated and wait until December. I am not sure why it is a big deal, but the debate happens every year. So, is there really a right or wrong time to put up Christmas lights?
South Carolina Public Radio announces when they feel you should put up your Christmas lights. A recent survey of over 4,000 people was taken to see when they feel you should put up Christmas lights. The most common answer was… *drum roll* on December 1st. Although most people say they plan to begin earlier than that, December 1st was the overall most common answer. The survey also shows that each state varies on when they put up their lights as well. The majority of states feel hanging lights before Thanksgiving is too early. On the other hand, Georgia says the earliest they can go is October. WOW! I am sorry, but my lights and decor were up about the first weekend in November. I enjoy Christmas and decor, so I want to be able to enjoy them up as long as possible.
So, now that we know what people think about putting them up. When should you take your Christmas decorations down? Share with us your thoughts!
