It was over before it really ever began. Here's why a popular North Carolina restaurant closed just six months after opening. The Famous Toastery at 7741 Colony Road in South Charlotte has closed its doors for good. And this news comes from the chain's social media page.

The Colony Road store was the Charlotte-based chain's eighth restaurant in the Queen City and it opened in June. But Mike Sebazco offers an explanation to our source, The Charlotte Observer, he says they quickly learned the space was simply not large enough. Sounds like the wrong space and possibly the wrong time. At the time of this restaurant's opening, six more were being developed. One of those is in Florida.

My go-to Famous Toastery is in Lake Wylie, South Carolina just before you go into Clover. I meet friends there on my way home from work or just stop in and eat alone. Cannot resist those eggs benedict. According to the Charlotte Observer, the first restaurant opened in Huntersville in 2005. Now there are 25 of them spread along North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

If you liked the Colony Road location and are upset it's leaving.  Don't worry. There is another one just 4 miles south in Ballantyne. Breakfast and brunch places have become more and more popular all over the country.  Does the name Dan Levy ring a bell? He is the co-creator of one of my favorite shows of all time, Schitt's Creek. Dan has a brunch-based reality show simply called "The Big Brunch".

Space and bad timing. That's why a popular North Carolina restaurant closed just six months after opening. There are so many brunch spots to choose from in the Charlotte area. It seems like they are popping up everywhere. To get more details check them out from our source, The Charlotte Observer, right here.

List: The 20 Top Charlotte Brunch Spots According To Open Table

It's barely Monday afternoon but I'm already daydreaming about the weekend. And one of my favorite things to do on the weekends? Brunch. You can satisfy your sweet tooth, enjoy something savory, and hello day drinking mimosas. It's the perfect combination. Especially when it's also filled with friends. And while I have some classic go-to places for brunch I love to try new places as well. But in a city like Charlotte with so many brunch spots, it can be overwhelming to know where to try next. It seems like every day somewhere new is opening. Some places that are considered hot spots have multi-hour waits no matter what time you go.

So let me offer you at least a little help. I went to OpenTable.com to figure out what Charlotte has rated as the best brunch in town. Some would have made my list, others I don't necessarily think of as brunch, and a few I'm adding to my list to try! This list features a variety of cuisines not just your typical pancakes, eggs, and waffles. Locations vary from South Carolina to South Park to the lake and many places in between.
