2 lakes in North Carolina rank among the most beautiful in the United States. I’ve lived in North Carolina most of my life and I have never heard of one of these lakes. They both sure are pretty, I can see why placestotravel.com gave them this distinction.
Most Beautiful Lakes In North Carolina
Let’s start with the lake most of us in the Charlotte are are very familiar with. I will give you two guesses which 2 lakes in North Carolina rank among the most beautiful in the United States.
Spring is officially here. And when the weather turns warmer and the flowers start to bloom all I can think about is getting to this lake. The fishing is amazing. Plentiful catfish and bass abound in Lake Norman.
Lake Norman is one of the 2 lakes in North Carolina that ranks among the most beautiful in the United States. It is the largest man made lake in North Carolina and it is very popular.
Here’s a little history,it was formed by Duke Energy in 1963. It is one of the newest lakes on the list. And the things to do are endless. Not only can you enjoy the water sports, but also the nearby hiking, shopping and the never growing number of local breweries.
On any given weekend, Lake Norman can be quite crowded. Maybe you are searching for a beautiful lake that is a little more laid back. Look no further than Lake Santeetlah. It is tucked away in the western part of the state in the Nantahala National Forest. That’s about six miles from Robbinsville.
Lake lovers might consider this a more tranquil option. According to Places to Travel, recreation there includes fishing or enjoying a paddle canoe. Forest trails are also available but watch out for black bears, bobcats and even mountain lions. Peak season is June to August at Lake Santeetlah.
The Most Beautiful Lake In North Carolina Is Minutes From Charlotte
Do you love to spend your summers on the lake? If so you may be interested to know that Insider recently published a list of the most beautiful lakes in each state. Some are huge names like the Great Salt Lake in Utah (which I skipped out on visiting to go to a Super Target-in my defense there wasn’t one in Charlotte at the time?). And many are some of the larger lakes in the states and the most well known. Some are near the coast, others nestled in the mountains, or close by to the city. But what about North Carolina? What is the most beautiful lake in North Carolina? My first guess would have been Lake Lure but that’s not it.
I’m going to keep you in suspense for just a few more minutes. This list was culminated by the experts at Insider and is based on their opinions. You can view what they have to say here as well as the best lakes in each US state. Below you’ll find the most beautiful lake in North Carolina as well as some of the surrounding states. While I grew up going to camp on a lake that was not mentioned in this list and it will always be my favorite. Though I know most people will agree that this is the most beautiful and I respect your opinion. Truthfully I’m not much of a lake fan anyway. I don’t do water I can’t see my feet in anymore.
