Top Baby Names Linked to Billionaire Success
What’s in a name? There can be a lot. A name is something that your baby will carry with them their entire life. You don’t want to mess it up and give them a name that haunts them. I’ve heard some pretty bad names over the years. Let me just say that sometimes it’s best to not get too creative when coming up with a baby name. So, when you’re looking at baby names, why not go with something that is tried and true? As it turns out, billionaire success is linked with certain names.
Joe D. from FATJOE recently released a list of the top 10 baby names linked to billionaire success. “The name you give your baby will be highly influential in their life and could be an inspiration to them,” they state in a press release. “You could choose to name your child after someone famous, influential, or highly successful in business – but what about choosing a billionaire’s name?” They add that it “could give your child the boost they need to achieve runaway success.”
For methodology, they used data from Bloomberg.com/billionaires/. They looked at the top 500 billionaires globally and counted the number of times a name was on that tally. Then, they also tabulated the total net worth and average net worth of people who had that name.
Baby Names Linked to Billionaire Success
So, what are those names linked to billionaire success? Going from No. 1 to No. 10, they’re John, David, Thomas, Michael, Wang, Mark, Charles, Zhang, Richard and Jim. As for those top two, John and David, FATJOE says, “Both classic, Biblical names, either will give your child a great start in life.”
As for gender, note that all the names that are in the top 10 are traditionally male names. That “reflects the gender bias still extant in the most successful areas of business today. ” They add that, “naming conventions can vary significantly across different cultures and contexts.” Find the full study via FATJOE here.
Redditors Roast Worst Baby Names They've Ever Encountered
Gridget
“When I was a kid I stayed at a bed & breakfast with family photos on the walls,” one user wrote. “There was a sister named Gridget. I actually think about this a lot.” It’s kind of like a spin on the name Bridget. This Redditor seems really stuck on the name they found.

Shanniel
This unique name caught this person off guard. They even tried to figure it out by mixing it with other names. “I once saw a baby announcement where the mom was named Shannon, the dad was Daniel, and they named the baby Shanniel,” they wrote.

Dyslexia
Sometimes people just go with the flow when picking a name for their kid. Maybe it felt right at the time, and they didn’t even realize it’s also the name of a condition. While working at a gas station, this Reddit user observed a mother who let her child run around wild. They wrote “One small girl was pushing on a display stand and the mother screamed: ‘DYSLEXIA GET YO A– OVER HERE!”

Donnaria
Back in school on the playground, this person probably had a rough time. This is particularly true because their name coincidentally rhymes with a sexually transmitted disease. Nevertheless, a user pointed out that it’s a clever fusion of two names. “Donnaria. A combination of her Mom’s name (Donna) and Grandma’s name (Gloria),” they wrote.
Alcoholic Beverages
Bacardi, Hennessy, Tanqueray, Alizé – the names keep coming. It turns out a Redditor, who happened to work in children and family services, encountered kids with names inspired by alcoholic beverages almost every day. “You don’t know how bad it really gets. Lots of kids named after alcoholic beverages.”
