How Much Are You Willing to Pay for Sporting Event Tickets?
Wassup everyone! It’s Toren and I am back with another “Interns View”. Today we are talking about Charlotte/Carolina sports.
Some Charlotte/Carolina sports will be increasing ticket prices for general admission and season ticket holders. If you are a Panthers fan be prepared to see an increase in ticket price as the salary cap has increased. There will be about a 4% increase, the lower level will see the biggest increase, with the season ticket price increasing by about 7%. There are some loyal fans out there who have been with the Panthers throughout the good seasons and bad…very bad seasons. Coming off of a 2-15 record, the worst in the NFL, and now fans have to pay an increased price for tickets. Would you still attend the games with the increase in ticket price and coming off of the worst record in the NFL?
Now let’s move to the Hornets, they are also increasing their season ticket prices as the new co-owners Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall have promised fans that they will invest in players, facilities, and whatever it takes to make the Hornets an NBA franchise winner, and they are expecting season ticket holders to put some cash in as well. For 920 seats the price will increase by nearly 80% next season with some improvements to some private club amenities such as all-inclusive food, soda, beer, wine, and parking. Also, a small number of tickets in the lower level that were excluded from private club membership and other amenities will have to pay an increase of about 225% to retain their seats…. Yikes. Mind you these are also loyal fans that have been with the Hornets through THICK and Thin and they now have to pay a huge increase to keep their seats.
A family friend of mine has lower-level season tickets and has been to just about every game this season and in the past and when I can I attend with them as well, but now they are unsure if they will have the seats next season due to the 225% increase. Even if they still wanted to get season tickets in a different section they will have to wait until all others decide and then pick whatever is left over… if there are any.
