Ice Spice Tells Other Rappers: Stop ‘Biting’
Ice Spice is establishing her domination over other rappers in the game. In a new video posted on her social media platforms Monday (June 18) night, the “Gimmie a Light” rapper is seen rocking a short yellow-haired bob and bangs, previewing a new song.
With her new debut studio album Y2K coming out next month, the Bronz rapper gave fans a taste of what’s to come with the caption: “phattt buttttttttt.” Wearing a low-cut army green mini dress with a leopard bra peeking out, a low-sitting Ed Hardy belt, and a fur shrug, Ice raps, “Name got the bitch gagging, hit the bench up and tagged in, bitch you lost, throw the flag in. Stay on a jet, but ain’t laggin’. Got these bitches copying my pose,” while bending over. “Got these bitches biting all my flows. Like ballerinas, keep ’em on their toes. And I really write, like f— a ghost.” She added that the track will be released this Friday, June 21st.
Funnily enough, Ice’s message of “stop biting” didn’t seem to work, as one fan, whose comment received nearly 10,000 likes, wrote: “I thought it was Nicki for second like even the voice.” Another person said: “Yessss we love the Nicki inspiration [pink hearts emojis].” A third person noticed the Nicki Minaj inspiration and commented: “LIL NICKI TFFF [heart eyes emoji].” Added another user: “U talking abt a lot of copying but this whole video gives Nicki. Ns sista [sobbing emoji].” While another quipped, “Nicki Minaj ahh flow.”
Has Ice Spice Fallen Off?
Besides the Nicki comparisons, over on X (formerly Twitter), folks were a bit more ruthless about the song preview. One munchkin commented, “this s— aint catchy my goat falling off [broken heart emoji].” Added another sad fan: “Girl you fell off [sobbing emoji].” Slammed one person: “What flow she got that’s not already stolen? Nun she does is unique in the first place.” Added another, “Nothing new, nothing different, just the same old boring and tired flow and beat.”
Last month, Ice started getting backlash after allegedly calling Nicki “ungrateful” and “delusional.” In the alleged screenshots shared by Ice’s former best friend, the “Munch” rapper found her “Barbie World” collaborator to be difficult to negotiate with and compared her to her mom.
As we previously reported, Spice announced her debut studio album and subsequent world tour. However, her popularity seems to be dwindling among fans. Most recently, she mocked one fan for suggesting she make a better album cover and was met with tons of backlash, as it was conceived as being homophobic. After the time of us reporting, Spice deleted her tweet calling the fan “delulu.” One person on X pointed out how Ice’s listeners on Spotify have significantly dwindled by tens of millions in just one year.
