Popular North Carolina Resort Named Best Fishing Lodge, I’ve Never Thought Of It As One
When you think of fishing lodges what’s the first thing that crosses your mind? Upon second thought I’m honestly not sure the answer to that question. I have a very good picture of a hunting lodge and that tends to resemble hotels I’ve stayed at in National Parks across the country. But in my mind a fishing lodge I guess is similar but lakefront?
Best Fishing Lodge
So when I stumbled across a recent USA Today 10Best list of the best hunting lodges in the country, I was first surprised to see North Carolina on the list. I was even more surprised to see a resort I’ve stayed at on the list.
That’s right, Blowing Rock’s Chetola Resort was named the number 2 best fishing lodge in the country. Who knew? While I have visited Blowing Rock countless times, I’ve only stayed at Chetola once on a ski trip.
A quick visit to Chetola’s website confirms they are indeed a hot spot for fishing. In fact, the resort is an “Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge”. Guests can book a variety of fly fishing trips including wade trips, float trips, as well as clinics.
Fishing is offered year round and you don’t have to be staying at Chetola to book. Your can learn more about fly fishing at Chetola here. The resort also offers a spa (more my speed) and some incredible dining. Its location is also perfect for more Appalachian Mountain adventures or a day shopping and dining in the town of Blowing Rock.
You can view the full USA Today 10Best Fishing Lodges list here. Lodges included on this list were first part of a list selected by an expert panel. Those lodges were then voted on by readers as the best in the U.S. Do you agree with Chetola being named the best fishing lodge?
