Hannah and Her Mom Emily Tell Their Story with Levine Children’s Hospital
Emily Carroll had a normal pregnancy with her daughter Hannah. She was due in July but was born a few weeks early. Then something happened.
When she was 2 days old, Emily and Jon (her husband) noticed that Hannah was twitching. They videotaped it and sent it to her nurses and doctors. They found out that Hannah had suffered a right MCA stroke and was seizing as a result. Emily is a speech therapist and for adults, so she had seen right MCA strokes often, but never with an infant.
The hospital team sprang into action, starting her on anti-seizure medication and running EEG’s to capture her seizure activity. Hannah went through occupational and physical therapy, and consistently mastered all of her skills. Hannah is now a year-round gymnast, swimmer, and a part of her choir group at school. Hannah has also done fundraisers for Levine Children’s Hospital and serves as a Young Ambassador.
You can help bring the hope back to those children in need by donating to the Levine Children’s Hospital this holiday season. Your gift will bring hope to our patients and their families and will help each child at Levine Children’s Hospital have an unforgettable holiday.
