Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, And Universal Win Wrongful Death Against Suge Knight
Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Universal finally got the correct judgment on Suge Knight‘s hit-and-run.
Cle “Bone” Sloan was a technical advisor on the property, and when Suge Knight showed up to the location ‘Straight Outta Compton’ was filming, the end result was that Sloan asked him to leave. Later, a meeting was arranged with Knight, in a parking lot of a fast food joint. Terry Carter, who was a local businessman according to Billboard, was serving as the mediator of the conversation but ended up being run over by Knight, who is due to face trial for murder this September.
NBCUniversal, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube were then sued for wrongful death in regards to Terry Carter, and the family wanted them to take responsibility for Suge’s actions, despite the fact that they had no control over the situation or Knight. Quoted from Billboard, “The theories put forward included that the filmmakers knew of Knight’s criminal history, his hostility to Dre and Ice Cube, and had negligently supervised Sloan, who was alleged to be a ‘known gangster and criminal with a more than ten-year history of ill will with [Knight].'”
The court has deemed that Dre, Cube, and Universal have no blame in the situation, and says that it wasn’t a foreseeable event that Knight would have ran someone over, despite his past, and though there was a lot of issues with Dre and Knight back in the day, and any interaction that Knight had with Sloan and later with Carter was non-violent until he ran him over with a car.
