Jason Mitchell Dropped From ‘The Chi’, His Agent, And More Amid Misconduct Accusations
Actor Jason Mitchell has been dropped from Showtimes’s The Chi, by his agent and manager, and from a forthcoming Netflix film Desperados amid misconduct allegations.
Mitchell, known for his breakout role in Straight Outta Compton where the actor portrayed rapper Eazy-E has been accused of misconduct by his co-star on The Chi, Tiffany Boone, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
Boone, who played Mitchell’s girlfriend on the Showtime series is only one of several actresses on the show who complained about Mitchell.
Boone allegedly felt so unsafe after making several complaints about Mitchell that she sometimes had her fiance, Dear White People actor Marque Richardson come to set when she shot scenes with him.
Eventually, Boone informed producers at Fox 21 that she couldn’t work with Mitchell anymore. Initially, Mitchell was retained while Tiffany Boone was allowed to leave the show at her request.
Desperados hadn’t started filming with Mitchell yet, but he was replaced by New Girl’s Lamorne Morris. The producers of the show, which is set in Mexico received “specific information which was investigated immediately and thoroughly and dealt with as quickly as possible.”
Mitchell’s co-stars on Desperados, Nasim Pedrad and Anna Camp also had complaints about the actor.
Mitchell, 32, has also appeared in Mudbound and Detroit. Mitchell’s agent, Showtime, Netflix, Fox 21, and Lena Waithe, creator of The Chi all declined to comment on the fiasco.
