Amber Rose Dragged for Promoting Flat Tummy Tea for Pregnancy
It’s become a staple of Instagram culture — your favorite influencers and celebrities promoting laxative teas to help women lose any alleged bloat and keep their tummies flat.
But Amber Rose took things to a new level this week by promoting Flat Tummy Tea … for pregnancy.
“Food baby or real baby @flattummyco knows bloat’s a total B*TCH!,” she wrote, in the post tagged as a paid advertisement. “They’ve just launched an Organic Pregnancy Tea to help us moms with those bloated, nauseous, blah feeling days! It’s safe to take while pregnant and breastfeeding. Check out flattummyco.com for their full line up now!”
Rose recently revealed she is pregnant with her second child and has been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, which is characterized by severe nausea and dehydration.
Almost immediately, her fans began criticizing her for promoting the product, which has not been tested by the FDA as being safe for anyone, much less pregnant women.
“Don’t promote this toxic crap,” one user wrote.
“Another shameless ad for ‘magic tea’ perpetuating the need to have a flat tummy… Now aimed at pregnant women!” another wrote. “Ily. You’re supposed to be a feminist. You have enough money. Seriously just stop.”
“Imagine drinking something called flat tummy when you’re pregnant. Oh, lord,” another user wrote.
Others called on actress Jameela Jamil to take Rose to task, as she has been vocal against the Kardashians promoting the product. However, the Kardashians have not promoted the tea while pregnant with any of their children.
