High End Fashion Designers Are Helping With The Coronavirus Pandemic In A Major Way
In times of despair during this COVID-19 outbreak, it may seem hard to maintain hope and positivity. Every day there is a new headline and an increase of positive diagnosis especially throughout the nation as we are in the lead with the most cases compared to other countries around the globe.
We’ve been urged to do our part by staying home or considering the option to volunteer. While quarantine has caused a drop in sales for major corporations and fashion brands, it hasn’t stopped them from making contributions and aiding to provide a bit of relief. In fashion we trust! Here’s how some of our favorite designers have participated in the fight against the Coronavirus.
French luxury retailer LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE, has temporarily transitioned its perfume factory into a sanitizer manufacturer. With a shortage of medical supplies, they are to order 40 million masks for France. LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE is a luxury goods multi-business corporation that is home to brands such as Hennesy, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Givenchy and benefit cosmetics.Burberry will be supplying 100,000 non-surgical mask to the United Kingdon Moncler has announced its donation of $10.9 million to the construction for new hospitals in Milan that will have 400 ICU`s. Chairman Remo Rufini feels it is his duty to give back during this time especially to the city that has helped make the brand what it is today.
Gucci will be providing 55,000 medical overalls and 1,100,000 surgical masks. The Italian label plans to donate to effort relief campaigns. They have also called on the #GucciCommunity to make donations to the WHO Global Initiative for Emergency and Essential Surgical Care
(GIEESC), a program that represents health professionals/experts and health authorities locally and internationally. The brand has donated a total of $1.1 Million.Here in the U.S. Ralph Lauren has donated $10 million to multiple COVID-19 charities and will be make 250,000 face mask and 25,000 hospital gowns. $1million of that donation will go to the Anna Wintour’s Vogue fashion fund for the virus relief.Mac Cosmetics has contributed $10 million in total to 250 local organizations around the globe providing COVID-19 relief. Mac`s VIVA Glam campaign are giving all the proceeds from Viva glam lipsticks towards the same organizations.
H&M has donated $500,000 to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. they also plan to make PPE ( personal protective equipment) that will then be distributed to hospitals across the globe. Saks Fifth Avenue has a foundation in which the retailer pledged to donate $600,000 to COVID-19 relief programs like the New York-Presbyterian patient care fund, Bring Change to Mind, and to Girls inc.
