Search Continues for Cars that Reportedly Crashed into Cape Fear River in North Carolina
Two vehicles reportedly crash into Cape Fear River off I-95 South near Fayetteville according to a report filed on Thursday, June 9th, 2020. First responders searched the river for hours Thursday night, but sadly did not find anything.
Today, dive teams resumed a search for at least two vehicles that witnesses said crashed into each other and ended up in the river. It is said that a least one vehicle went over a barrier at the site of the reported crash and plunged into the river according to Police reports. The call came in around 7 p.m. on Thursday.
UPDATE: At least 4 water rescue boats are still out on the Cape Fear River. First responders and law enforcement responded to calls of possibly two vehicles running into each other then going into the river. The State Highway Patrol is asking for anyone with information to contact the Troop B Communications Center at *HP (47) or the Cumberland County SHP office at (910) 486-1334. I hope they find the cars and everyone finds peace soon enough with this tragedy. You can watch the search live here.
