Neighbors Support Grieving Woman Harassed For Christmas Lights
Support is pouring in for a woman in Long Island, New York, who received an anonymous note calling her out for still having her Christmas lights up. Sara Pascucci got a letter earlier this week that read, “Take your Christmas lights down! It’s Valentine’s Day!!!”
The 31-year-old mom took to Facebook to explain why she’s behind schedule this year. “Our entire family was sick with Covid starting December 24th,” she writes in a post on the Long Island Moms Group. “Within this timeframe we lost two family members, one being my father.” Pascucci explains that he loved decorating their house every year for the holidays and that they haven’t gotten around to taking down the Christmas decorations yet, adding, “And maybe we just aren’t ready yet.”
Sara Pascucci received an anonymous letter in the mail this week about her Christmas lights. Sara's father, who recently died from COVID, decorated her home before Christmas, and she can't bear the thought of taking everything down. https://t.co/ubfeVUNaHw #abc7ny #news pic.twitter.com/uQcsovzJFw

After her heart-wrenching post, some residents on her street now have her back and some say they also got that same note. One neighbor points out, “With everything going on out there, could you be a little nicer instead of dragging somebody down just because they left their Christmas lights up?” And some are taking it one step further and say they’re now planning to put up Christmas decorations in February to show their support for Pascucci.
