Keke Palmer Credits Acne-Free Skin Due To Pregnancy
Keke Palmer is loving how her skin looks right now. In a new video shared on Instagram yesterday (January 5), she revealed how being pregnant has helped clear up her adult acne. She has been struggling with this due to her polycystic ovary syndrome diagnosis (PCOS). PCOS is a common hormonal imbalance that can lead to irregular periods, ovarian cysts, weight gain and skin problems, according to WomensHealth.gov. PCOS is also one of the most common causes of infertility in women. However, the website notes that having it does not mean you can’t get pregnant.
Palmer shared in December 2020 via Instagram that PCOS had been “attacking (her) from the inside out” and that she “had no idea.” She shared a selfie of her acne, calling it “the least harmful” side effect of the condition and encouraging others to advocate for their health. In the caption, she recalled that doctors struggled to diagnose her. “Unfortunately doctors are people and if you don’t ‘look the part’ they may not think that’s your problem,” she wrote. “They may not even suggest it if you ‘look healthy’ whatever that means! I came to a doctor in tears once and all they offered was a measles vaccine… Exactly.”
Palmer, 29, says in the video, “I know you can’t see right now because I got a face full of makeup on, but if we really get into it, I want you to see that everything right here is extremely flat. What that means is — even with the discoloration that we’re going to get to — there’s no more of the bumps.” She gives a smile, then dives into how she cured her acne.
“I’m here to let y’all know I found the secret to clearing up my acne and guess what it is? You need to get knocked up. Period, point blank, period,” she declares. “I need you to know it ain’t never laid flat like this,” she exclaims while bringing the camera close to her face to show the results. She then jokes, “Call me Keke Wyatt ’cause I’m about to be pregnant for the rest of my life,” referring to the R&B singer-songwriter and mom of 11.
“The way my baby already looking out for me??” Palmer added in the post’s caption on how her baby-on-the-way has given her “poreless” skin. To further prove her point, she showed off her makeup-free face on her Instagram Stories. Vanessa Morgan co-signed the theory, commenting on the post, “Facts. When I was pregnant had the best skin I’ve ever had. Not even one pimple till like 7 months post partum.”
The multi-talented star announced she’s expecting her first child with her football player boyfriend Darius Jackson while making her Saturday Night Live hosting debut on December 3. During her opening monologue, Palmer addressed “some rumors going around” about her being pregnant, which she proved to be true by unbuttoning her coat to reveal her growing bump.
