Alligator Found Inside North Carolina Attic
While an alligator may belong in North Carolina, one place it does not belong is an attic.
An 8-foot alligator revealed itself at a construction site this week. A New Hanover County code compliance official shockingly found the surprise in the attic of a new home under construction off of Carolina Beach Road. If you haven’t assumed by now, New Hanover County is the Wilmington area.
Alligators in Wilmington…standard code. Alligators in the attic of a home…not up to code.
According to Texas.gov, alligators have a natural fear of humans and usually begin a quick retreat when approached by people. They say if you have a close encounter with an alligator a few yards away, back away slowly. They also note that it is extremely rare for wild alligators to chase people, but they can run up to 35 miles per hour for short distances on land.
