Parking rates of $45 is ridiculous

Recently, a girlfriend of mine and I were discussing parking rates in Charlotte. I decided to look into it. I was surprised to see some that could cost up to $45 for parking.

Parking in uptown and Southend of Charlotte can be a pain. We are seeing a lot more scooter and light rail riders just to cut down on monthly costs to park if you work in those areas. Street parking isn’t always available, but when it is, I will prefer to add some additional walk time to save money on parking.

I recently went to Romare Bearden Park and I was only there for about an hour to an hour and a half. There was no hourly rate available. I had to pay a flat fee of almost $15. That is absolutely ridiculous. So I went to Parkopedia and reviewed the current parking rate at various garages around the Spectrum Center. I used a time of entering after 1 pm and leaving by 9 pm. The Spectrum Center seemed to be a good centralized location to use. A lot of people frequent the area for shows, the bus center, The Midnight Diner, and more are near the area. Take a look at the screen grab below that showed current prices in that area using the times above.

Guys, this is ridiculous! If you want to plan a date night in uptown, it’s almost cheaper to Uber rather than pay for parking in some cases. This is the reason why knowing if parking is validated at the space you are heading to is important. I understand the $45 rate might be for a hotel, however, there was an area near/in the Third Ward was a $35 rate. No aspects were changed. This area is located at 228 South Church Street. Date nights, night out with the guys, or the girls is starting to add up. You have put more planning into where to park than charging stations for your Tesla.

5 Charlotte North Carolina Restaurants With Open Reservations For An Outdoor Dining Tonight

The weather couldn’t be better this week, especially for the beginning of March.  I’m itching to get outside and enjoy it. (And to my boss, if I’m MIA this afternoon it’s because I’m working by my pool). So, if you’re anything like me this weather has looking for every excuse to enjoy it. So if you’re like me consider making a last-minute dinner reservation somewhere you can eat outside. But where? When the weather is this nice, everyone is going to be looking to do the same. I took a quick look at OpenTable to see if it’s even possible to get an outdoor reservation for tonight. And the good news is it is possible. There are several Charlotte restaurants that have reservations for outdoor dining.

You can view the full list in real-time here or view five of my favorite spots that are available for dinner tonight. This is accurate as of lunchtime on March 1st. But even if you are reading this later, there is a good chance these restaurants are available then as well. Looking for another spot to check out? Here are some of the best patios in Charlotte! I hope the weather stays this nice in Charlotte and we can enjoy plenty of outdoor dining!
