Carolina Panthers Name Rookie Bryce Young Starting Quarterback
The Carolina Panthers had the number 1 pick in this past June’s draft and they selected Alabama quarterback Bryce Young without hesitation. Again without hesitation, Head Coach Frank Reich, named Bryce Young the team’s starting quarterback at the beginning of training camp and right after he signed his 4-year rookie contract. Young will be the first rookie to start a season since Cam Newton back in 2011.
The Panthers are moving quickly to show they are committed to Young at QB and that was evident they traded top WR DJ Moore to the Bears to get the number pick in the draft and they also moved quickly in signing him to a 4 year $37.9 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and $24.6 million signing bonus.
SB Nation reports that this decision is somewhat of a late birthday present. The new starting quarterback celebrated his 22nd birthday just before this decision. Not only did Young enter the draft as the #1 pick, but will now be a starter for his rookie season.
How far do you think the panthers will go with Young at the helm in his rookie year?
