Drake Receives Backlash After ‘Liking’ Tory Lanez Statement
Drake is in the hot seat. Fans were not happy with the fact that Drizzy liked Tory Lanez’s statement following that his 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
Tory’s statement read: “In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of,” Tory wrote on Instagram. “I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do. I’ve faced adversity my whole life and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious. Tough times don’t last, tough people do. To my family, friends and umbrellas thank you for your continued support. See you soon.”

“The one sided beef drake has with megan is so weird,” one fan wrote.
“Of course he did. Toxic,” another fan chimed in.
One fan was not surprised by the Toronto rapper’s “like”: “Drake always been weird so i’m not shocked,” they wrote.
This is not the first time Drake has done something seemingly shady towards Megan Thee Stallion. In Drake and 21 Savage’s song “Circo Loco” from their collab album Her Loss, Drake took shots at the Houston native.
“This bitch lie ’bout getting shots, but she still a stallion / She don’t even get the joke, but she still smiling,” Drake raps. A “stallion” is slang for a naturally tall curvy woman which is why Megan uses it in her stage name and “shots” could be in reference to a body enhancement surgery that would make the woman in question, not a “stallion” which is what Megan initially thought about the line.

However, the bar following the aforementioned line reads, “Shorty say she graduated, she ain’t learn enough / Play your album, track onе, ‘kay, I heard enough,” in reference to Megan's Texas Southern University graduation in 2021. The line could also relate to track one on her latest album Traumazine, which is “NDA” where the Texas native raps about the 2020 shooting incident.
“Stop using my shooting for clout bitch a– n—–! Since when tf is it cool to joke abt women getting shot!,” she wrote. “You n—– especially RAP N—– ARE LAME! Ready to boycott bout shoes and clothes but dog pile on a black woman when she say one of y’all homeboys abused her.” She added, “And when the mf facts come out remember all y’all hoe a– favorite rappers that stood behind a N—– that SHOT A FEMALE.”
Meg then concluded, “People attack me y’all go up for it, i defend myself now I’m doing too much … every time it never ends and this did NOT happen until I came out and said I got shot … y’all don’t fwm okay cool f— it bye.”
Drake has not publicly addressed those lyrics.
