Charlotte Police Under Fire After Violent Arrest Of Young Woman

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department is under fire after a video surfaced overnight. The video shows the police making a violent arrest of an employee of Bojangles restaurant. We are not sure what led to the arrest but we do see the arrest being made.

The video shows a young lady on the ground being held down by roughly four different officers. One officer is seen repeatedly punching and assaulting the young lady as they try to restrain her. There are multiple offers restraining her while the one is repeatedly punching her in what seems to be the leg.  The employees of the nearby Bojangles can be seen running to her aid and asking the police to stop. A woman driving by also pleads with the officers to stop. The officers eventually stop and get the women up off of the ground.

In a recent statement made by CMPD, officials say that the officers were attempting to restrain the woman who was resisting. Allegedly the woman punched an officer in the face after being confronted which led to the arrest. The statement posted to social media this morning is below:
