North Carolina HBCU Alum Appears in Final Scene of The Color Purple
The Color Purple is pretty much one of the most talked about movies right now. From Fantasia shining as the leading lady to Danielle Brooks killing her role and even to Boosie walking out with his children. The movie premiered Christmas Day and has been all the talk ever since. A few people you may know might have even had a little role in the movie. Actually, an alum of North Carolina A&T appears in the final scene of the movie.
The North Carolina A&T alum was once Mister A&T and Mister HBCU and is now making his way to the big screen. Reginald N. Johnson of the Class of 2013 was featured in the musical remake of the classic 1985 film. Johnson appears as a principal dancer in the final scene of the movie as they perform the reprise of the song “The Color Purple.” The moment is one of the most beautiful final scenes of a movie if you have not seen it before.
Johnson got the chance to be alongside actresses such as Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Halle Bailey, Ciara, and Taraji P. Henson. The film grossed $44 million domestically on its first weekend. The movie came out at the end of 2023 and became one of the most talked about movies of the entire year. If you have not seen The Color Purple yet then I highly, highly recommend you go and see it before it leaves theaters.
